It’s the ultimate tool for visual learners – an enormous inflatable colon. The Florida Hospital Cancer Institute experts at DeLand, Fish Memorial, Flagler, and Memorial Medical Center invite the public to walk through the Prevent Cancer Super Colon™, a 20-foot long, 8-foot high replica of the human colon. Visitors will learn about the nation’s third deadliest cancer and get a close-up view of healthy colon tissue, various stages of colorectal cancer and signs of non-malignant colorectal diseases like Crohn’s and colitis.
The free exhibit is brought to the Volusia/Flagler region in partnership with the national Prevent Cancer Foundation Super Colon™ tour. Since 2003, the Prevent Cancer Foundation has crisscrossed the country with its Super Colon™ exhibit as part of a campaign that seeks to educate Americans that this disease is preventable, treatable and beatable.
