Florida Hospital HospiceCare dedicates butterfly garden in Kelly Jones’ memory
On Monday, October 20th, Florida Hospital HospiceCare held a special dedication ceremony at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House. Friends, families and community supporters gathered to celebrate the new butterfly garden at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, dedicated in loving memory of Stuart’s granddaughter, Kelly. The garden was very appropriate, as butterflies are the national symbol of hospice and bring a sense of peace, hope and happiness.
Fran Cresser, whose late husband was a patient at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, recently had butterflies tattooed on her ankle in his memory. While standing near the butterfly release, one of the butterflies landed on her arm, resting there for several minutes.
“You’ve just received a postcard from heaven!” said Susie Hellmann, a breast cancer survivor and event attendee, when she noticed the butterfly on Fran’s arm.
“He’s watching over me, I know,” Fran said in agreement, her eyes tearing slightly.

The garden was created by Hammock Gardens Nursery and Landscaping and is a generous gift from Carol Oare.
