The Emergency Department at Florida Hospital Flagler is the first Florida Hospital within Volusia and Flagler counties to achieve 100 percent fully-electronic patient medical records including physician documentation.

The paperless system designed specifically for the Emergency Department is called “PowerNoteED” and was created to efficiently manage physician documentation by eliminating handwritten notes and minimize the potential for errors. The new system automatically creates a template based on a patient’s condition, age and gender, streamlining the process for both patient and clinician and eliminating redundant questions.
PowerNoteED makes the electronic clinical information immediately available to admitting physicians and primary care providers.
“We chose to pursue PowerNoteED for more efficiency and safety for our patients. This goes hand-in-hand with our entire hospital moving towards paperless medical records in mid-October,” said Dr. Andrew Coleman, Florida Hospital Flagler ER Medical Director.
The formal transition to electronic medical records (EMR) for the hospital is October 19. Once the multi-million dollar project is complete, Florida Hospital Flagler will rank with only 7 percent of hospitals nationwide that use a fully-integrated electronic medical records system.
PowerNoteED is a trademarked product of Cerner Corporation in Kansas City.
