FHF Plans Several Events and Programs for Lung Cancer Awareness Month

November is National Lung Cancer Awareness Month. In recognition of this, FHF

is planning several events and programs to help smokers quit to preserve their

lung health, and to raise awareness of Lung Cancer and the importance of early

detection.

All month long: FHF is sponsoring a groundbreaking limited-time lung cancer

screening program. For just $200, residents in Flagler County who meet certain

criteria can undergo a Chest CT scan, ordered and reviewed by Dr. Walsh. This

screening is o ered to those who are considered “high risk,” 50 - 64 years old

and at least a pack a day smoker for 30+ years are two parts of the required

November 10:  This date kicks off another Free Smoking Cessation program at

 FHF. Led by FHF Lab Supervisor Pam Cudlin, the 6-week program o ers help

to smokers who are ready to make the commitment to quit. Free nicotine

replacement therapy (like the patch), are provided at no cost, as well as

education and counseling.

 

November 17:  Great American Smoke Out. Outside the FHF cafe from 11:30

am - 1:30 pm, smokers are invited to come out and make the pledge to quit

and receive a free “cold turkey” lunch. There will be free screenings, education,

information on smoking cessation classes, and more. Tell anyone you know that

may be interested in quitting the habit to come out to this event and enjoy a

free lunch!

December 9:  Brief Intervention Training (BIT)
Open to all healthcare professionals

Learn how to:
 Identify tobacco users (Ask)
 Encourage/Advise them to “QUIT”
 Refer them to a “FREE” cessation class
…and earn 1 CE hour
Lunch provided.
